Artist Statement

As the creators of “The Fallen Feather” we wanted to showcase our love for the toon shader style and 2D Japanese animation, while incorporating elements of our Chinese cultural background. Our use of bold colours and expressive character designs, along with dynamic animation, serves to enhance the overall style of the film. Through our lighthearted story, we hope to explore themes of friendship and trust, while also incorporating a fantastical element that reflects our cultural background. Ultimately, our goal was to create a work that is visually captivating and emotionally resonant, with a universal message that speaks to viewers of all ages and backgrounds.

Yuqi Yin

Yuqi Yin is a 3D lighting and compositing artist born and raised in Shandong, China. She is passionate about creating stylized and imaginative artwork. She is skilled at expressing her whimsy with skill and bringing the audience into the world she creates. Yuqi is constantly pushing the boundaries of her art and mastering new techniques to enhance her professional craft.

Lily (Manli) Liu

Lily Liu is from Guangdong, China, and she was born and raised in Gaborone, Botswana. Growing up in a culturally vast environment, she would be constantly inspired by her surroundings. She specializes in modelling and texturing stylized and semi-realistic 3D characters, props, and environments.

Maxine Cenling Xia

Maxine Xia is a 3D animator and 3D layout artist, born and raised in Chongqing, China. She is interested in creating 3D works in Japanese anime style and 2D shading. She focuses on good character animations, camera language and environment lighting to help tell the story, and video games' powerful motion animations.
